As part of its social responsibility program, ZalaZONE InnoTech organized with the Zala Special Ambulance team, in cooperation with the National Blood Donation Service a blood donation campaign at the ZalaZONE Conference Centre.

The event was attended by employees of companies operating in ZalaZONE Park. Upon arrival, after a short registration and filling out a questionnaire, they underwent a medical examination The basic principle of blood donation is that only healthy people can donate blood, thus protecting of both the donor’s and the recipient’s health. The blood donation process for a person takes about 10 minutes, followed by 5-10 minutes of resting.

It is interesting to note that 5-6 Liters of blood circulate in the body of an adult, about half a Liter is reserve. 450 ml of blood is taken during a blood donation, as the body can easily replenish this amount. Men can donate blood 5 times within a year and women a maximum of 4 times, with at least 56 days between two blood donations. Blood Donor Day is celebrated every year on November 27th.

Blood donations are extremely important because, according to our current knowledge, blood as a human tissue cannot be replaced by a synthetic substance, but only by blood donations. Three types of blood products are produced from each unit of blood taken, which can be administered to up to three different patients. To ensure a safe supply in Hungary, 1,600-1,800 applicants are needed every weekday.

This also explains the motto of the blood donation movement: “Donate blood and save three lives!”
